The Future of Advanced Air Mobility

Jetson is developing eVTOL aircraft called the Jetson One. The Swedish company was founded in November 2017 by high-performance car entrepreneur Peter Ternstrom and drone specialist Tomasz Patan. Its aim had been to start production of the single-seat model before the end of 2022, but this was pushed back into 2023 after the start-up decided to further refine the design. These include features such as weatherproofing the cockpit controls and developing a ballistic safety parachute. Another key change is that the company now intends to deliver the aircraft fully assembled, rather than as a kit-build package for owners to put together.

The aircraft is being produced under FAA Part 103 rules and, as such, owners do not need a pilot's license to fly it. In September 2022, the company reported that it has collected 500 down payments of $22,000 for the $92,000 vehicle.

Our Methodology

The Jetson One is a single-seat, kit-built eVTOL vehicle with eight sets of electric motors and rotors. It has an open chassis design and has been developed under Part 103 sports flying rules that do not require operators to have a pilot's license. It can land in a 10 feet by 10 feet space, and with the rotors folded is just under 3 feet in width.
